How to play
Each round shows a percentage question — like "20% of 60" — and you type the answer. It's always a whole number, and a correct answer advances automatically. Harder difficulties bring in less friendly percentages and bigger numbers, plus mark-ups and discounts. Solve as many as you can before time runs out.
The percentage tricks worth knowing
- 1% is just ÷100. Move the decimal two places. 1% of 1,350 = 13.5.
- 10% is ÷10, and every other round percentage builds from it: 20% is double 10%, 5% is half of 10%, 30% is three tens.
- Percentages flip. 8% of 25 is the same as 25% of 8 = 2. Swap them when one side is easier.
- Discounts: 20% off means you pay 80%. A £45 item at 20% off is 45 × 0.8 = £36.
- Tips: 15% ≈ 10% + half of that. On £40: £4 + £2 = £6.
Where you'll use it
Percentages are the most common "real world" maths there is: sale prices, tips, tax and VAT, interest rates, and every statistic in the news. Being able to do them in your head means you spot a bad deal instantly, split a bill fairly, and never get caught out by a "50% extra free" that isn't what it seems. This drill turns that from effortful to automatic.
